Transcription and Tab available at https://www.d6bass.com/download/rent-santa-fe/?tmstv=1743618857 ------------------- RENT (stylized in all caps) is a rock musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson.[1] Loosely based on the 1896 opera La bohème by Giacomo Puccini, Luigi Illica, and Giuseppe Giacosa, it tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan's East Village, in the thriving days of the bohemian culture of Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The musical was first seen in 1993 in a workshop production at New York Theatre Workshop, the off-Broadway theatre which was also where the musical began performances on January 26, 1996. The show's creator, Jonathan Larson, had died suddenly of an aortic dissection the night before. The musical moved to Broadway's larger Nederlander Theatre on April 29, 1996.[2] On Broadway, Rent gained critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical. The Broadway production closed on September 7, 2008, after 12 years, making it one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.[3] The production grossed over $280 million.[4] The success of the show led to several national tours and numerous foreign productions. It was the first single to be released from the album The Pursuit of Accidents, and reached #49 in the UK charts in May 1982. The Pursuit of Accidents is the third studio album released by the jazz/funk British musical group Level 42, in 1982. It was issued on CD in 1985. It was re-issued on CD in 2000 as part of a two disc set with the album "Standing In The Light", and again in 2007 as a stand-alone disc. The album reached #17 on the UK album charts. The album features three singles. The first single "Are You Hearing (What I Hear)?" peaked at #49; the second, "Weave Your Spell", peaked at #43. The third single was "The Chinese Way", and became the band's first top thirty hit when it reached #24 in 1983. "Blow Your Mind" is the third overall single to be released from British funk/acid jazz band Jamiroquai's debut studio album, Emergency on Planet Earth (1993). It was released on 24 May 1993 through Sony Soho Square in the United Kingdom, peaking at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was written by frontman Jay Kay with Toby Smith, and produced by Rick Pope. Its accompanying music video was directed by Vaughan Arnell and Anthea Benton. The single was later featured on the group's greatest hits compilation, High Times: Singles 1992–2006; however, its release was a shorter version rather than the original album-length track. Like both of the group's previous singles, two versions of the song exist: a heavily edited radio edit, running at 3:51, and the full-length album version, running at 8:35. The latter version has only ever been officially included on the group's debut album release (as well as the 2013 remaster). All other releases which include the track include the radio edit. The B-side of the single is an instrumental version of the popular Emergency on Planet Earth track "Hooked Up". In his weekly UK chart commentary, James Masterton wrote, "In many ways this new single is not quite as good a song [as "Too Young to Die"] – this star still has a little way to rise."[2] The Stud Brothers from Melody Maker viewed it as "classy, elegant and unspeakably dull."[3] Steve Morton from Music & Media said, "Again, not unreminiscent of Mr Stevie Wonder and he does it so well. Light piano tinkles, funky guitar flutters, horns ride the controlled storm and that voice breathes each soulful note out effortlessly. Less obviously catchy than "Too Young to Die" but it just oozes summer all over you."[4] Another Music & Media editor stated, "On a hopping funky bass line Jay is scatting his vocals, while the horn section exhales full blast. Mind blowingly good stuff!"[5] Andy Beevers from Music Week gave the song four out of five and named it Pick of the Week in the category of Dance, adding, "The kid can do no wrong at the moment. His third single is a breezy jazz funk track that lacks the lyrical message of its predecessors but is already turning out to be a winner on the nation's dancefloors. Its chart success is assured."[6] Ian McCann from NME wrote, "Jamiroquai gets all smooth and mildly funky. [...] Wait for the album, wherein this silky-drawered thing belongs."[7] Kevin L. Jamiroquai / Blow Your Mind
World Machine is the sixth studio album by British pop group Level 42, released in 1985. It was the band's breakthrough album internationally and features one of their most successful singles, "Something About You". This release marked a transition from their jazz-funk beginnings to the funky pop they are best known for―a transition which eventually resulted in the departure of drummer Phil Gould subsequent to the release of their follow up album Running in the Family. The album features the singles "Something About You" (the band's only American top 10 hit, peaking at number 7, and a success internationally) and "Leaving Me Now". Also featured is "Physical Presence", the song from which the name for their first live record was taken. The album was re-released in 2000 as a 2-CD set also including the band's previous album, True Colours. In 2007, World Machine was re-released as a 2-CD remastered Deluxe Edition containing several remixes and live versions as bonus tracks. The cover photo is of Hafnarfjall, a mountain in west Iceland. World Machine peaked at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart, staying on the chart for 72 weeks. Running in the Family is the seventh studio album by British band Level 42, released in 1987. It features the UK hit singles: "Lessons in Love" (which reached No. 3 in May 1986), "Running in the Family" (No. 6 in February 1987), "To Be with You Again" (No. 10 in April '87), "It's Over" (No. 10, in September 1987) and "Children Say" (No. 22 at the end of 1987). All five singles peaked in the Top 10 in the Netherlands. "Lessons in Love" peaked at No. 1 in Germany, South Africa, Switzerland and Denmark. This was the last Level 42 album of the 1980s to feature brothers Phil (drums) (until Forever Now in 1994) and Rowland 'Boon' Gould (guitar) (until his guest appearance on Retroglide in 2006) who had cited dissatisfaction with the musical direction of the band and exhaustion as departure reasons. Later in 1987, the Platinum Edition of the album was issued. The CD and cassette versions replaced "Lessons in Love", "Running in the Family" and "It's Over" with remixed versions, and added remixes of "Something About You" and "World Machine" from Level 42's previous album. On vinyl, the remixes were featured on one 33 rpm record which was shrink-wrapped to the standard edition of the album. Also in 1987, the group released the video collection Family of Five (with the music videos of the five singles from Running in the Family) exclusively in the United Kingdom.[6] Running in the Family was a big international success, reaching the Top 10 in numerous countries and the Top 25 in the US; in the UK, it was certified 2× Platinum by the BPI.
